Vedpursad 1 — Shrine Room Draft

The room was cold and dark but the astringent odor of old flowers and stale vermillion placed it as a shrine room of a temple, which telling from the various stages of staleness, was still currently in use. There were thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of these tiny temple shrine rooms peppered all around Kathmandu valley, especially in the more ancient parts of the city. Estimating from the location where Vedpursad entered that heavy door, and the amount of time he crawled in the dark tunnel, he would be somewhere in the medieval parts of the town.
